2014 Reunion As usual, all the various aspects of the reunion came together beautifully!! We had good weather, interesting program, fine singing, tasty food, and good attendance including young people. Getting the younger folks involved is the key to our future!! President Philip gave information about cousin Eve-Annette Fields Culver and her bequest to the foundation. It is to be used for the upkeep of the cemetery, as previously mentioned. He directed attention to a sign recently placed on the cemetery fence with Eve-Annette’s name. We are most grateful for her generosity.

On Saturday some family members met at the Swainsboro Library for the Sharing Time. Lots of old stories, lore and facts concerning our various families were enjoyed. Following that, a visit was made to the Farm and Home Museum for a tour. Seeing the one-room school, outhouse, and “dogtrot” home helped everyone envision days long gone. Other structures include a blacksmith shop, one room cabin, cane grinding mill and much more. Plans are being made to return next October.

Scholarship As mentioned in the September newsletter, the Directors voted last June to raise our Roots and Wings family scholarship to $1000. Infor-mation and applications are available from the Chairman Susan Middleton. Contact her at 6345 Stapleton Road, Macon GA 31216. Email her at:

Cemetery News Unfortunately a large tree has fallen on the south side of the cemetery, damaging the fence but thankfully not any tombstones. We are still trying to find an individual or firm to hire for repair of some of our stones. As a reminder, do NOT use bleach to clean stones, old or new, as it can do permanent damage. Two safe products are D-2 or Wet and Forget.
