reubinthompson_org_146.jpg - This is Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mixon, who own the land where the Polly Kersey Cemetery is located. Mr. Mixon is looking for persons or a group to assume maintenance and upkeep of the cemetery since his age precludes him from doing it any longer. The cemetery needs the brush cleared and a fence installed to help protect it. This cemetery contains the graves of brothers Francis Richard Flanders and Thomas Flanders who were killed by Creek Indians during an Indian uprising in 1802. The Kersey family discoved the bodies of the Flanders brothers and buried them in the Polly Kersey Cemetery.
