“In the 1790′s, Reubin Thompson brought his large family to this area. He built an arbor that was used during the 1790’s where he served as Exhorter (Local Preacher). In 1800, Green Leaf Log Church replaced the arbor. In 1877, the church was located on this sacred spot and renamed Ebenezer Methodist Church. From this family line have gone 36 minister’s wives, 3 foreign missionaries, 3 bishops, 2 rural workers, and more than 80 ministers, representing almost every denomination.”
